The faculty dated back in 1996 when 7 programmes i.e. Diplomas in Environmental Health, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Imaging, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Pharmacy was offered. These programmes were placed under the Faculty of Applied Sciences. With the introduction of medical degree programme and the breakaway of the pharmacy programme, the remaining 6 health science programmes were put under the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in December 2002.

 

On the 26th January 2004, the Malaysian Ministry of Education agreed to approve the separation of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences into two individual faculties. On the 15th of March 2004, the Faculty of Health Sciences was officially established with the 6 health science diploma programmes under it.


These diploma programmes continue to produce competent graduates to fill the void in health care in Malaysia. Until 2005, more than 1200 graduates have been produced at diploma level and employed in various government and private hospitals and healthcare institutions around the country and around the world. The faculty is expanding rapidly and have started offering degree programmes in health sciences and soon will be offering postgraduate programmes as well.


Technology-enabled classroom (TEC), anatomy resource centres, computer labs and multidisciplinary labs built and equipped with the latest equipments and models are some of the facilities available for the students. Clinical practice for students are done in various hospitals all over the country in order to provide hands-on clinical experience under supervision from preceptors or clinical instructors.
Faculty of Health Sciences has moved officially to Puncak Alam on 1st July 2009. The campus is situated about 60km to the west city of Kuala Lumpur and about 35km from the main campus of Shah Alam. This is the first satellite campus of UiTM with the state of art of facilities.The Faculty of Health Sciences aspires to be a world class faculty in its teaching, learning and research activities
