The physiotherapy department is a dynamic unit within Faculty of Health Sciences, serving students pursuing career in Physiotherapy. The program offers learning opportunities that lead to certification for Diploma, Bachelor’s degree, Master’s by research and Doctor of Philosophy. Currently, bachelor’s degree is also offered through distance education mode. In addition, the department is proposing Master’s program by course work in the field of musculoskeletal, sports and geriatrics.
It is a privilege to have an outstanding students embarking in our program. The students are provided with friendly and supportive educational environment with excellent facilities and dedicated academicians and professional clinicians. The curriculum focuses on theoretical knowledge and state – of the art on clinical skills based on best available evidence, which enable them to physically assess diagnosis, treat and educate patient across all ages with wide range of disabilities and conditions effectively. In addition, the curriculum emphasizes on leader ship and entrepreneurship training skills to produce versatile physiotherapist graduates across a broad range of health care settings such as hospital settings, health care organization, elderly community, sports as well as in special/rehabilitation centers.
The department strives to create a climate of research activities through fostering student’s publication’s and scholarly presentations. The students were guided with quality supervision by the academicians as well as international visiting professor. The research work is carried out in our laboratories, community and also in various clinical settings.
All the programs have been accredited by Malaysian qualification agency (MQA) and recognized by Malaysian public service department (JPA). The department’s vision is to produce a new generation of physiotherapists with excellent professional commitment with good moral values to meet the community needs.
