Welcome to the Centre of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Nutrition and Dietetics was established as a department at UiTM Jalan Othman Campus back in 2008 which had its first cohort of students in the degree programme, Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours). In July 2009, the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics was officially relocated to Puncak Alam Campus under the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics programme is a 4 years full-time study mode which places emphasis on the integration of professional training and skills in areas including clinical nutrition, institutional food service management and community service. During this course, students are exposed to various settings that include community health centres, government as well as private sector hospitals.
In July 2016, the Department is officially known as Centre of Nutrition and Dietetics. The Centre of Nutrition and Dietetics has 9 full time lecturers assisted by 14 Dietitians and 4 laboratory staff to conduct lectures, laboratory work as well as clinical training. Apart from academic activities the academic staff are also involved in research related to nutrition and dietetics such as nutritional epidemiology, obesity, clinical nutrition, infant nutrition, elderly nutrition, nutritional science and food safety. These activities are aligned with our vision of becoming the point of reference in providing consultation in the area of nutrition and dietetics in Malaysia.
With our growing reputation, we are glad to embark the students on a journey of life opportunities that helps them to become outstanding graduates. Besides learning on nutrition and dietetics knowledge, our students are also trained in entrepreneurship, volunteerism, professionalism and leadership skills.
This is aligned with the mission of the centre to produce dietitians who are professionally trained in translating the science of food, nutrition and medical nutrition therapy to meet the needs of individuals or target groups, whether in disease or health. Our graduates are competent to be employed in various clinical and scientific fields, such as clinical or catering dietitians in any health institutions, community dietitians for public health, researchers, academicians or nutrition consultants in food and nutraceutical industries.
The Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) programme is accredited by Malaysian Qualification Agency (MGA) since 12th October 2012.
